GARDEN CARE | PLANTING | LANDSCAPE PROJECTS
Oakland | East Bay

I work with homeowners in Oakland and the East Bay on everything from regular garden care and planting to overgrown spaces, fruit trees, and one-time landscape projects. I’m here to talk through what’s going on, take a look together, and figure out what makes sense for your space.

Need some help with your garden?

Hey, I’m Jordan.

I’m an Oakland-based gardener. I grew up in a Mennonite community in Reedley, California, working on stone fruit farms, and after years working as an artist and educator, I’ve found my way back to plants, soil, and working outside.

I’m especially interested in caring for established gardens, working with California native and edible plants, and helping people figure out spaces that have gotten overgrown, neglected, or just need some attention.

I approach gardens a lot like my art practice: paying attention to what’s already there, figuring out what’s working and what isn’t, and making thoughtful changes from there.

What I Can Help With ↓

Garden Care

Seasonal cleanup, pruning, weeding, plant care, mulching, and ongoing attention for gardens that need a hand.

Planting + Garden Renovation

New planting, reworking existing beds, California natives, pollinator plants, and bringing neglected or overgrown spaces back into shape.

Edible Gardens + Fruit Trees

Fruit trees, vegetables, herbs, berries, planting, seasonal care, and help getting more out of an existing edible garden.

Landscape Projects

One-time projects, unusual spaces, erosion and slope planting, small installations, and problems that don't fit neatly into another category.

Close to home.

I’m based in Upper Dimond, near Dimond Park and work with homeowners across Oakland, especially in Laurel, Oakmore, Glenview, Montclair, and Piedmont Pines. I also take on projects in Piedmont, Berkeley, Richmond, and nearby East Bay neighborhoods.

A Recent Project

Longcroft | Piedmont Pines, Oakland
Slope stabilization + planting, 2026

A steep, dry hillside above a creek needed temporary erosion control ahead of the rainy season. The project included California blue wildrye (Elymus glaucus) and native shady wildflower seed from Larner Seeds of Bolinas, 700 GSM coir mesh, western sword ferns (Polystichum munitum), and erosion-control staples, installed across roughly 600+ square feet of slope.

The slope was cleared and seeded first, then the coir mesh was trenched and anchored at the top and secured across the hillside. Five western sword ferns were planted through the mesh, with room for additional planting as the site develops.
